Comic-Con: ‘Vampire Diaries’ Screens Pilot

gallery_main-vampire-diaries-promos-07272009-04

The new CW show ‘The Vampire Diaries’ screen the entire pilot at Comic-Con on Saturday, and according to a few people who where there, the crowd was not impressed!!.

To give some credit to the show, it might have screen better if they didn’t pair it up the director’s cut of ‘Watchmen’.  If they would have screened it say Thursday night or Friday when all the ‘Twilight’ fans were still around, they might have gotten a better viewing.

According to HitFix.com

When “The Vampire Diaries” decided to screen its entire pilot for the Comic-Con audience, knowing how well “Twilight” has done here in recent years and how well the Comic-Con audience likes vampires in general, it must have seemed like a slam dunk. Instead, the panel got caught in a perfect storm of situations pretty much designed to mean something would be received derisively by the Con’s attendees. It’s almost enough to make one feel bad for the show until one considers that, well, “The Vampire Diaries” pretty much sucks. Once one thinks about it that way, it’s easier to enjoy just how loopy the screening got.

If your not aware of ‘The Vampire Diaries’, let me fill you in.  The TV series is supposed to be based of the popular book series of the same name by L.J. Smith.  I read these back when they first came out (1992 – JR. High for me) and then re-read them again a few months ago.  Based off what I saw from the CW Upfront last spring, it looks as if quite a few things have been changed from including the Town’s name.

Now, this isn’t to say I’m not going to like the series, I’m a fan of Kevin Williamson, who did after all bring us ‘Dawson’s Creek’.

So, hopefully ‘Vampire Diaries’ fans, the series won’t suck (no pun entended) nearly as much as comic-con atendees/critics are saying.

New ‘Vampire Diaries’ Preview!!!

CW released an extended preview of their new show ‘The Vampire Diaries’ a few weeks ago, and it look pretty awesome.  This preview is about 2 mins longer then the one I saw during CW’s upfront.

Fan’s of the book series might notice a few differences, starting with the name of the town.  In the book the town is Fell’s Church, VA, but in the TV series it seems to be Mystic Fall’s.  A few other changes seems to be Stefan and Damon’s birth place as well as age, and there seems to be someone in on the brother’s little secret.  I’m curious to see how far the show strays from the book series.

The show is from Kevin Williamson who brought us Scream and Dawson’s Creek, I’m a fan of both those shows, so I’m most likely going to enjoy this even if the story line doesn’t stay along the same line at the books.

Check out the extended preview below

The CW’s full upfront presentation was this morning.  Along with confirming their 2009/2010 line up, they also showed 3 minute preview for the 3 new shows they are picking up…including “The Vampire Diaries”.

Check out the clip below!!! I’m thinking this will fill time between Twilight movies quite nicely!!!

If  you want to catch up on “The Vampire Diaries”, check out the book series of the same name by L.J. Smith!!!

Vampire Diaries Cast…Um Okay???

Okay, so with news that The CW has picked up “The Vampire Diaries”, I thought I would post the main cast up for ya’ll to see.

Take a look at the picture above, from left to right we have: Ian Somerhalder (Damon), Nina Dobrev (Elena), Paul Wesley (Stefan).

Now based off the way I pictured the characters in the book, the only casting that looks right is Ian Somerhalder.  In the book Elena is blonde and blue eyed, and I kinda pictured Stefan being taller.

Well, I guess we’ll see how this all plays out this fall on Thursdays @ 8pm on The CW!!!
