MTV Gives its Regards to Broadway!!

Viacom confirmed today that at the end of 2009, MTV will vacate their famed Times Square Studio!!!
MTV opened the Times Square studio in 1997, and it then became famous when it launched the show TRL with then host Carson Daily. Since TRL went off the air last fall, Viacom (owner of MTV networks) doesn’t really feel the need to keep the 22,216-square-foot studio.
The studio is currently owned by SL Green.
Broadways ‘9 to 5: The Musical’ to Close in September

It was announced today the the Dolly Parton penned musical ‘9 to 5′ will close on Sept 6, 2009.
By the end of its Broadway run, the musical will have played 148 performances and 24 previews. The show will have been on Broadway for about 6 months.
Producer Robert Greenblatt also announced at a National Tour is being planned and will start the week of Sept 20, 2010.

Monty Python Set to Mark 40th Anniversary

‘Monty Python’s Flying Circus ‘ is gearing up to celebrate its 40th Anniversay with some new stage shows in L.A., New York, and London.
The series was created, written and performed by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin in 1969. The show ran on the BBC from 1969 to 1974. The series has spawned albums, books, and 3 movies (including my fave ‘Monty Python and the Holy Gail, as well as the Tony Award winning musical ‘Spamalot’.
A Stage show titled ‘An Evening Without Monty Python’ is set to include Hank Azaria, Jane Leeves, Alan Tudyk, Rick Holmes and Jim Piddock for the shows in L.A. at the Ricardo Montalbán Theatre, Hollywood (Sept. 23-Oct. 4) and New York at the New York’s Town Hall (Oct. 6-10) .
If you live in Londan, Eric Idle and John Du Prez will premiere Not the ‘Messiah (He’s a Very Naughty Boy)’ for a one night only show on Oct 23.
