‘New Moon’ $72.7 Million Opening Pay Day

newmoonteaserSummit Entertainment has many reason to smile this morning, 72.7 million reasons to smile. That is the total that ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ raked in on the opening day. Making it the highest grossing opening day total, ever, beating out the Dark Knight’s old record of $62.7 million.

‘New Moon’ has also beat out all of ‘Twilight’ records:

Twilight Opening Day total = $37 million vs. New Moon’s Opening Day of $72.7 million.

Twilight’s overall opening weekend total was $69.6 million. ‘New Moon’ has already beat that in its opening day.

Now in order of ‘New Moon’ to become the highest grossing opening weekend movie of all time, it will need to beat out Dark Knight’s record of $158.4 million. That means New Moon will need to bring in at least $87 million between Today (Sat) and Sun, so that would be $43.5 million each day. I think we can do that Twilighters.

Now, if ‘New Moon’ is to become the highest grossing film opening weekend film of 2009, it will need to beast ‘Transformers:Revenge of The Fallen’ $108.9 million. That I know we can do!!!
