Final Destination beat out Michael Myer for the number one movie with week by taking in $28.3 million this weekend, this also makes its the highest grossing open weekend for the series.

Rob Zombie’s ‘Halloween II’ came in at #3 with $17.4 million.  It’s predisor ‘Halloween (2007) opened to the tune of $26.3 million 2yrs ago.

Last weekend’s number one ‘Inglourious Basterds’ fell one spot to #2 with $20 million, this brings it total domestic total to $73.7 million.

Rounding out the top 5 are District 9 at #4 with $10.7 million and G.I. Joe at #5 with $8 million.

Next week is Labor Day Weekend, which usally marks the end of the summer season!!  Next weekends release’s are the new Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) Comedy ‘All About Steve’, and from Mike Judge (Office Space) ‘Extract’.
